While the official criteria for a megastructure may be up for debate, they all have one thing in common: they are massive engineering undertakings and can take years upon years, as well as billions of dollars, to complete.
While structures like, say, the Egyptian pyramids or the Great Wall of China have managed to withstand the test of time and continue to remain marvels of human ingenuity, there are plenty of megastructures today that will leave your jaw on the floor as well. And you can’t forget about all of the proposed megaprojects, some of which are quite literally out of this world.
