Virtual reality (VR) is changing how the construction industry does business. This technology is increasingly being used by enterprises due to the ability to provide immersive training environments, simulate dangerous situations, and avoid travel and equipment-related expenses.

A Rise in VR Training
In many cases, consumer VR headsets and systems can be used with a few modifications, but many analysts are also predicting that the enterprise VR training market will specifically grow through 2022. This is good news for working environments such as construction that have risks associated with training hazards.
ABI Research suggests that companies that have deployed VR-based training programs have experienced a time savings of up to 80 percent. Additionally, the company says many VR training applications are still at the early stages of deployments, but have very strong potential in the enterprise training space.
For the construction industry, many equipment manufacturers are offering VR training opportunities in order to help operators become well versed in using equipment in a way that is both productive and safe. Going forward, companies can expect to see more of these technologies continue to emerge in the future.
