New emerging energy trends are changing how business is done—and it is impacting many vertical markets including the construction industry. As new projects emerge, so too will new opportunities for contractors.
For example, Green Charge has been designing and deploying commercial energy storage since 2009, with systems installed throughout the United States.
These projects incorporate distributed energy resources, energy-enabled customers, and other emerging trends that are upending the century-old concept of centralized, unidirectional electricity delivery.
Green Charge is working with San Diego Gas and Electric and San Diego’s two largest school districts, Poway Unified School District and Grossmont Union High School District on a large storage-enabled virtual power plant in the United States. This system will provide targeted relief to the utility through aggregation and control of distributed energy storage. For the schools, grid service revenues realized increase the value of energy storage for their districts. This project paves the way for the smart grid of the future.
Green Charge is also working with Pacific Gas and Electric Company to deploy a fleet of energy storage systems in San Jose to demonstrate how customer-sited energy storage supports the grid during periods of high electric demand.
Green Charge provides capacity relief at targeted distribution substations, and Green Charge’s GridSynergy platform integrates with distributed energy resource management systems to provide several grid services including voltage anomaly mitigation and economic dispatch. These projects define the future of the integrated distributed electric grid.
