Electric Vehicles Market To Charge Up

Share:

5/3/2017

Electric vehicles are becoming more common on the road. They will also be a common sight off road, on the construction jobsite.

With incentives such as fuel savings and better performance, electric will be more common in the next ten years. Electric vehicles for construction, agriculture, and mining will be an $81 billion market in 2027.

Indoors, using electric is a legal requirement. Outdoors, there is more flexibility. Cranes and man lifters have many applications. Their production volumes are larger than most people realize. There will be 165,000 electric versions sold in 2027.

Over 90% of the world's mines are open cast. Often in remote places up to 4000 meters above sea level, shipping diesel can cost more than buying it. In an all-electric solution, new pollution laws can be met, image improved, and money saved, the electricity coming from the mine's own wind turbines and photovoltaics. Battery swapping and fast charging of them means 350 kWh batteries will suffice, big but not larger than those in other sectors. Electric vehicles will prove their value to contractors during the next few years and become a useful and valuable piece of equipment on the jobsite.
