Safety Apparel: What’s Next

Hard hats, vests, gloves: These are just a few of the essential items contractors wear at the construction jobsite every day in order to improve safety. But what's coming next?

In a new market study from Technavio, the analyst firm says the global safety apparel market is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of more than 8 percent from 2016 until 2020.

In terms of geography, North America is estimated to be the highest revenue-contributing region in the global safety apparel market. North America accounted for nearly 42 percent of the revenue market share during 2015. Additionally, the growing awareness of worker health and safety in India, along with increasing industrial fatalities due to the lack of protective gear, will drive market growth in that country in the future.

Moreover, government agencies in regions such as Europe and North America are also contributing to the growth of the market.

Further, the improvement in the economy in North America boosted the construction industry, which will increase the demand for safety apparel like safety footwear and head protection gear.

As this growth continues, so too will the number of safety-apparel products that are connected, informing workers of opportunities to reduce hazards and improve overall safety at the jobsite.
