Larsen & Toubro is looking to reduce complexities on asset-intensive projects by conversing the physical and the digital—and it is doing it by connecting people, equipment, and site operations.

A global technology consulting company with expertise in the engineering and construction sector, Larsen & Toubro recognizes that technology is needed to solve industry problems. Thus, the company has partnered with SAP to deliver a new digital solution for engineering and construction.

The objective is to enable construction companies to manage large numbers of internal and external stakeholders with intricate interdependencies to proactively manage technical, operational, financial, resources, and other risks. The end result will be driving projects from planning through execution with mobile apps, execution workbench, and a project-management cockpit.

Some benefits of leveraging such technology includes being able to benchmark processes with greater intelligence, ultimately equipping site supervisors, project managers, and business leaders with the tools to make better and more timely decisions.

While this is one instance of how technology can help improve efficiencies on construction projects, digitization of the construction industry continues to move forward, as contractors embrace big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and analytics. This will be critical to making the construction jobsite more connected and better informed.
