Safer and Smarter Demolition

Demolition can be a dangerous and tedious job. There have been advancements in demolition equipment for the construction industry, namely demo robots that do the work. Now, new robot options are coming to market.

As one example, Aquajet Systems AB introduced the Aqua Cutter 710V hydrodemolition robot. Its design makes it suitable for a wide variety of concrete removal tasks, such as renovation and bridge and road repair.

Contractors can adjust the robot’s stroke to control the depth of cuts and vary the pressure of the water jet depending on whether they are removing loose, deteriorated concrete, or lowering the sound concrete to a pre-determined depth. A valuable feature of hydrodemolition is that rebar is cleaned and descaled during the process, whereas alternative methods may damage the rebar or produce microfracturing in the remaining concrete.

Operators can control the robot from a safe distance using the unit’s radio remote control, either wirelessly or with a hard wire. This is one of the big benefits of robots in the construction industry—helping create a safer and more productive construction jobsite.

This one example of innovation in demolition and it shows one of the many options that can help improve business processes and safety at the construction jobsite.
