Excavator Tech Really Digs in At Jobsite

New Hitachi excavator really digs inConstruction companies will get a hand on the jobsite in the form of a new excavator. Trimble and Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., have teamed up to bring a high-tech excavator to the market in Japan.

The new 20-ton class excavator is semi-automatic and provides significant productivity gains. It is equipped with a Trimble GCS900 Grade Control System that makes design surfaces, grades and alignments accessible to the operator on a display inside the cab.

The system uses GNSS (global navigation satellite system), GPS (global positioning system), laser, sonic or total station technology to accurately position the blade or bucket in real time, significantly reducing material overages and improving the contractor’s productivity and efficiency.

This one example of new equipment and technology designed to increase efficiencies on the construction jobsite. For the Pacific region, this is a stepping stone for future construction equipment design and technology improvements.
