New Demand for Pile Driving Equipment

Pile driver market growingToday the construction industry is experiencing a rise in projects in the areas of utility infrastructure, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities, which is driving the demand for a particular type of equipment.

According to a new report from Technavio, the global pile driving equipment market is expected to grow at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 6.47 percent until 2020.

Some of the advantages of this type of equipment include piles of variable lengths can be extended through soft compressible or swelling soils into suitable bearing material; large excavations and subsequent backfill are minimized; and less disruption is caused to the adjacent soil.

The APAC (Asia-Pacific) region is the largest market for this equipment, as the rise in infrastructure projects and scarcity of labor have compelled contractors to opt for more modern piling equipment. Also, the rise in population and rapid urbanization are leading to the construction of new transport and utility infrastructure, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities, which is requiring new construction equipment.

The construction industry in Europe has reached saturation, as major activities are restricted to expansion and renovation of existing infrastructure. On the other hand, the construction industry in the Americas has witnessed a positive rebound in 2014, and the construction of offices, warehouses, and residential structures in the region is increasing. This requires foundation work, which also increases demand for pile drivers.

As the market continues to trend upward, contractors are in a position to determine how equipment—such as pile drivers—can contribute to increasing productivity and efficiency at the construction jobsite.
