Analytics & IoT: The Keys to Construction's Future

Share:

6/15/2018

Construction companies all across the globe are looking for ways to streamline work into a digital process. The large amount of documentation in the industry needs be managed as effectively as possible as well as providing key insights for the future.

In a move toward the digital transformation, Jacobs partnered with Atos for predictive, condition-based maintenance and field services optimization solutions, which can be used across industry sectors such as water, energy, transport, aviation, nuclear, and the built environment.

The ability to capture the data and analyze it gives a greater understanding of the assets, helping to reduce operational and reactive maintenance costs, optimize performance, and increase return on asset investment.

With the technology, Jacobs will be able to detect anomalies and performance patterns, determine critical assets, and understand the root cause of asset failure. The end result will be better anticipation of potential asset failure and performance issues and to proactively plan for timely maintenance and replacement.

Shift Toward Analytics & the Internet of Things

This is in line with trends that point to the growth of predictive analytics. For instance, MarketsandMarkets suggests the cloud-based deployment model is currently witnessing a surge due to its cost effective nature and availability. The research firm suggests the use of predictive analytics will grow substantially through 2022.

As the move toward analytics and the IoT (Internet of Things) continues to grow in the construction industry, so too will the number of construction and engineering firms that rely on predictive analytics to help perform tasks.
