12/12/2018

By collecting high-quality data and then using it to populate required forms, construction teams can increase the usability of the information, reducing liability and risks.

Recently, the Virginia Dept. of Transportation and the Virginia Asphalt Assn., have partnered with Pavia Systems to leverage its HeadLight technology to facilitate collaboration of the state project inspection program and the asphalt contractor quality control program.

The objective is to share information and communication between the DOT and contractors. The technology helps teams improve communication and data sharing among teams.

In this case, the Virginia Dept. of Transportation and contractors will adopt the technology to better manage material quality control, which enables the DOT to review data collected by contractors.

Researchers will also work with the organizations to explore long-term and additional benefits of the technology.

In the long run, the technology will help enhance the monitoring of pavement quality during construction and will be used for reporting purposes.
