Pavilion Event Services - GIVE ME SHELTER - How Do You Anchor/Secure Tents?

Did you know that tents and anchoring systems used at the Las Vegas Convention Center must be designed to withstand 90 mph winds? That calls for some pretty strong anchors. While there are exceptions, there are four ways tents are anchored at the LVCC:

1.    DRILL & STAKE. We drill and stake 3′ to 4' deep into the asphalt depending on the size of the tent. We handle staking submittals to LVCC, as well as patch and fill the holes during load out. Drilling & Staking is preferred. Why can’t we stake everywhere? It depends on what’s beneath the asphalt under your booth. Water, sewer, gas line, electrical…we work closely with LVCC before and during every show to avoid such hazards. Plus, we can NEVER drill into LVCC concrete, especially sidewalk.

2.    SMALL CONCRETE BALLARDS. These are 100 pounds each. Approximately 6″ tall, 24″ diameter. Only used for 10×10 and 10×20 canopies with NO sidewall.

3.    WATER BARRELS. Classic 50-gallon drum, water filled for weight. Approx. 42″ tall x 24″ diameter. Only used when neither drill & stake nor small concrete ballards will work.

4.    LARGE CONCRETE BALLARDS. 2,000 pounds each. 36" x 37" x 27". Only used when we really need to.

We make sure your tent is properly anchored BEFORE those 90 mph winds come knocking on your door.  For further information, please contact Pavilion Event Services at or 702-632-0213 or find additional information in the CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 Exhibit Service Manual under “Additional Show Services” and look for Canopy, Temporary Structures or Staking Services.

Cox Business – Internet and Telecomm Technology Update
Since the last visit by CONEXPO-CON/AGG to Las Vegas, Cox Business has been busy ensuring the Las Vegas Convention Center is at the forefront of event technologies to ensure event partners and participants have a superior technology experience.

Wi-Fi – Wi-Fi connectivity is now expected by everyone.  At the Las Vegas Convention Center, Cox Business has installed 2,100 Wireless Access Points (WAP) throughout the facility.   The Wi-Fi canopy provides guests with unparalleled coverage and speed options never before available.  This video outlines the Wi-Fi infrastructure improvements. In addition, there are now many more Wi-Fi Hot Spot packages for exhibitors to choose from, starting from small 10-user packages and up.

DAS – What is a DAS?  DAS stands for Distributed Antenna System.  This system is usually installed in large venues, such as the Las Vegas Convention Center to ensure cellular connectivity is seamless and not hampered by the physical impairments of large structures or other obstacles.  Cox Business is currently completing a neutral hosted DAS within the facility.  Partnering with all the major cellular providers, the new DAS is to be completed by the end of 2016 and will provide CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 with the latest in cellular technology.

For further information, please contact Cox Business at or toll free at 855-519-2624 or final additional information in the CONEPXO-CON/AGG 2017 Exhibit Service Manual under “Additional Show Services” and look for Internet.

Key Show Management Personnel

Do you have a question on your company’s show planning?  Here is a list of show staff that can answer all of your questions.

Admission Badge Pricing for 2017

In structuring the 2017 badge fees, the Show Management Committee requested that AEM retain the services of a pricing analyst to research and recommend the registration fee structure. Over time, our badge fee increases have not kept up with inflation. The results of the pricing analysis concluded that our admission fee was underpriced in comparison to other leading shows and to the value the show provides.

While the show admission fees will increase, the Management Committee directed us to minimize the cost increase to exhibitors. Below you will see that the fee increase for exhibitors is substantially less than for the general attendee. In addition, exhibitors will be able to extend invitations to their customers and dealers at a substantial discount.

Admission + Transportation = Additional Value

As added value, the admission fee in 2017 will include not only the show badge but also multi-modal transportation to and from the show for both exhibitors and attendees. The admission fee will include not only deluxe coach bus transportation at most official hotels but also a multi-day Monorail pass at no additional charge. AEM will be looking into additional transportation values in Las Vegas, and we will keep you posted on additional developments.
