The CONEXPO-CON/AGG exposition has again received national recognition from the trade show industry, earning two “Gold Grand” awards at the recently held 2009 “Gold 100 Awards and Summit” from Trade Show Executive magazine.
The last CONEXPO-CON/AGG was honored for “Largest Show” for exhibit space (net square footage of more than 2.28 million) and “Highest Economic Impact” for its 143,000-plus attendees, which had an estimated impact of more than $234 million on the economy of host city Las Vegas in 2008.
The honor is “an important reminder particularly during these challenging economic times that exhibitions are an essential tool to bring sellers and buyers together to do business, and reaffirms the pivotal role of exhibitions in commerce and the economic recovery that will eventually happen,” noted Dennis Slater, president of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), a show owner and the show producer.
AEM attributes the success of CONEXPO-CON/AGG to the association’s trade show “model,” which emphasizes collaboration with other industry groups to bring members and their meetings to the event to enhance networking, save time and travel, and increase return on participants’ business investment. AEM shows are also industry-run in which participants have a “voice” in show planning, costs are carefully monitored, and revenues go back into services for the members and the industry.
Trade Show Executive annually recognizes the top 100 U.S.-based trade shows and gives special distinction to standouts in 13 Gold Grand Award categories.
Earlier this year, CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008 was named the largest show in the annual “Top 200” listing of the Tradeshow Week publication, and also received Tradeshow Week “Fastest 50” honors for its growth, along with the co-located IFPE International Fluid Power Exposition.
The next edition of the triennial CONEXPO-CON/AGG is set for March 22-26, 2011 in Las Vegas. For more information on AEM trade shows go online to www.aem.org.
