CONEXPO-CON/AGG and IFPE earn “Fastest 50” honors for trade show growth

Quality show experience for visitors the primary goal, say show organizers

CONEXPO-CON/AGG, the international construction industries exposition, and the co-located IFPE International Fluid Power Exposition have been named to the Tradeshow Week “Fastest 50” list for significant exhibit space growth of the 2008 events.

Tradeshow Week is a leading exhibition industry magazine and conducts the “Fastest 50” program annually to recognize shows in the U.S. and Canada.

The last CONEXPO-CON/AGG and IFPE, held in 2008, broke their records for exhibit space as well as attendance. The next edition of the triennial shows will be in 2011 - March 22-26 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, USA.

Show management stresses that quality, not quantity, is the goal when planning CONEXPO-CON/AGG and IFPE. And, keys to success include development of industry partnerships that result in co-located events, as well as industry involvement in show planning and a focus on customer service.

“We are always looking for how we can improve the shows to add value for attendees and exhibitors. We want them to have a quality show experience, one that meets their business needs with maximum ROI for the time and money spent,” explains Megan Tanel, show director for the 2008 CONEXPO-CON/AGG.

“By nurturing partnerships, we develop an industry 'community' at the shows, with co-located exhibits, conventions and meetings. All participants benefit from a one-stop location instead of multiple events, as well as increased networking and learning among industry peers,” stated Sara Mooney, show director for IFPE 2008.

The shows are overseen by management committees of volunteer company executives, with a “run by the industry, to meet the needs of the industry” philosophy to ensure the shows continue to evolve and serve all participants.

Show management closely watches budgets to operate in the most cost-effective manner while still providing high levels of customer service. This means keeping costs low for exhibitors and attendees and offering value-added services. Examples include, for exhibitors, a “package plan” that bundles a number of exhibit-related services into the space rate and, for attendees, complimentary shuttle busses between hotels and the show site.
